About
About Initial D
An anime adaptation of Shuichi Shigeno's manga. Takumi Fujiwara, the son of a tofu shop owner, drives an AE86 with the driving skills he honed through deliveries and builds up battles against street racers on the mountain passes of Gunma.
The main setting is Gunma Prefecture, where real mountain passes appear, such as Mt. Haruna, said to be the model for Mt. Akina, as well as Mt. Akagi, Mt. Myogi, and Usui Pass. Gunma Prefecture's official tourism site also introduces the stone steps of Ikaho Onsen, Megane Bridge, and Oginoya in Yokokawa as pilgrimage spots.
